Introduction

Pössl Freizeit und Sport GmbH, based in Ainring in south-eastern Germany, is one of the leading companies in the camper van segment.

When Peter Pössl founded the company at the end of the 1980s, he was ahead of the times with his vision of producing and, of course, selling inexpensive, converted panel vans.

It was only after the Glücks Group took over the company in 2002 that the production and sales figures increased noticeably.

Today, the Pössl Group is one of the leading companies in the camper van sector.

History, development and expansion of Pössl

In 1995 the idea of Peter Pössl, the founder of the company, became reality. It installs the inner workings of mobile homes in series panel vans such as the Peugeot Boxer and the Fiat Ducato.

The mobile homes were offered by Pössl at prices that were barely higher than the purchase price of a series van.

But the company's growth is slow. By the year 2000, 360 Pössl vehicles had been sold on the German and Austrian markets.

Pössl probably sells this number in a week these days.

In 2002 the company was taken over by the Glücks Group, setting the course for real growth.

In the following years, Pössl expands the product range and continues to increase its market share.

Globecar

Clever Mobile GmbH was founded in 2012. Camper vans are expanded and sold in Hungary under the Clever Vans brand.

In 2015, the Roadcar brand was added, which sells converted panel vans in an inexpensive version.

In 2017, modern panel van production for the H-Line will be set up on an area of 50,000 square meters.

In 2019, Pössl is celebrating its 30th anniversary with the Trenta and Summit Prime models. The following year Vanline is created.

Pössl is also involved in e-mobility and will be presenting the e-Vanster in 2022, the first all-electric model on the market.
